Principal’s Newsletter

March 23, 2012

From The Principal’s Desk

     Karen Habegger

March has been quite a month, hasn’t it? The
weather has been so unusual for this time of
year that we have all been taken off guard and
spring fever has already begun!

Much has been accomplished this month and I
would like to thank you and your children for
making sure that your child ate breakfast, was
well rested, and got to school on time during
the testing window. These factors are
important EVERY school day, but especially
when tests are administered. (Remember this
when CAPT, PSATs, SATs, etc., come up in high school!)

Student of the Month for February: The following students have incorporated the standards we’ve set for our school to show respect for themselves, others, and the community. I am very proud of these students.

  • Team 6-1 - Sheyanne
  • Team 6-2 - Erika
  • Team 6-3 - Austin
  • Team 7-2 - Jonathan
  • Team 7-3 - Emily
  • Team 8-3 - Jacob
  • Creative Arts - Abbie
  • World Language - Jillian
Spelling Bee
Each year we have students enter
into the Meriden Spelling Bee sponsored by the
Meriden branch of the American Association of
University Women and the Meriden Record
Journal. All sixth grade students participate in a
school-wide bee and we have determined our
TEMS Spelling Bee Winners and TEMS
Representative to the town-wide bee, held on
March 27th at 6:30PM, at Hanover School.

1st Place - Login - Team 6-1
2nd Place - Bryanne - Team 6-3
3d Place - Odaliz - Team 6-2

Congratulations to our wonderful spellers!

Builders Club
The Builders Club went to the Meriden Head Start on Tuesday, March 6th, to drop off books from their book drive. While there the members read books to the children in the Head program. It was great to see the smiling faces of the children who were able to choose a book to take home and keep.

Aquaculture
The Aquaculture program had an exchange program on March 2nd at Moran Middle School in Wallingford. Students learned about water testing as well as participated in some team building activities. On March 10th the group headed to Storrs to visit a coral exhibit and a horse show. The students will also be treated to ice cream at the UCONN Dairy Bar.
